Model Graphs - General Information

Legend tool

The entire legend can be toggled on/off under the View menu. The legend can include the following pieces depending on the type of design.

Trademark: Stat-Ease® software trademark can be edited by clicking near it to open an edit box to change what is displayed.

Factor/Component Coding: This is controlled by the Display Options menu settings.

Response Scale: Only present when a transformation is applied. It is controlled by the Display Options menu settings.

Response Name: The name given to the response when the design was built.

Color Scale: Appears on contour and 3D surface graphs. Click on the color scale to change when the extreme colors will be displayed.

Run Information:

If a design point is selected the Std and Run order along with the value of the observation will be displayed.

If a prediction is selected on one factor and interaction plots, the predicted value is displayed instead of the observed value. Least significant difference comparisons are added to the bottom of the legend.

Axis Assignment: Shows the assignment of the factors/components to the axes labeled: X1, X2, X3, and X4.

Floating variables: Shows the settings on the Factors Tool for the factors not assigned to an axis.

LSD comparisons: When a prediction is clicked, as noted above, all of the pairwise LSDs are computed between the selected prediction and the rest of the predictions displayed on the graph. A grey interval indicates the difference between the predictions is not significant. A black interval indicates the predictions are significantly different.

Graph

Plot Area: The type of graph is controlled by the Graphs Tool, while the factors/components displayed are determined by the Factors Tool. Right-clicking on the plot area reveals more advanced functions.

Graph Title: Right-click to edit the title above the plot area.

Graph Labels: Either Right-click to edit the labels on the axis or right-click on the plot area and select Graph Preferences. Click on the axis tab that is to be changed.

Axis Labels: The tick marks and the labels assigned to them are controlled under Graph Preferences. Right-click on the plot area and select Graph Preferences. Click on the axis to be changed.

Dockable Tools

Graphs Tool: Click the buttons to change the type of graph shown in the plot area. These choices are also available under the view menu.

Factors Tool:

Gauges is the default view with draggable vertical red bars corresponding to the factor/component settings. Right-click on a factor/component to assign it to an axis. Categoric factors can be averaged over by clicking the Avg button. To assign a specific value to a factor/component click on it, then enter the value in the box at the bottom or switch to the sheet view.

Sheet is the alternate view to control the factors settings. Assign a factor or to an axis by typing it into the Axis column. Set the value of a factor by typing it in to the value column. A factor assigned to an axis cannot be set to a specific value.

Crosshairs Window: Reveal this tool by going to the View menu and selecting Show Crosshairs Window. The small window will show the value of the axis assigned factors. The full window adds additional properties.

Rotation Tool: Reveal this tool by going to the View menu and selecting Show Rotation Tool. This tool was replaced by the ability to grab and rotate 3D graphs. It is still useful to exactly set the rotation such that multiple graphs will have the same view. | h: the number of degrees of rotation in the horizontal plane. | v: the number of degrees of rotation in the vertical plane.

The information border

When the crosshair cursor is over a graph element, information about its location is displayed along the bottom of the window.
